Dr. Skye Sturgeon, L.Ac. presents
Herbal Decoctions Distance Learning Course
Course Description:
A common complaint of Chinese medical practitioners is that the patients don’t like to use bulk herbs because they are difficult to prepare, and they don’t taste very good. This class will review the use of decoctions in Chinese medicine and discuss some of the finer points of the general preparation of the herbal formulas. An important portion of the class will be devoted to exploring alternative preparation methods which may be more convenient for patients and often result in a much better tasting herbal soup that might increase patient compliance.
Objectives:
- The advantages and disadvantages to prescribing decoctions
- Knowledge about the administration of herbal decoctions that will improve therapeutic effects for their patients
- Several alternative cooking methods to prepare a decoction made from bulk herbs
- How offering an alternative cooking method can remove one of the barriers to patient compliance with Chinese herbal therapy
This pre-recorded course will be broadcast during the Pacific Symposium on October 29th from 2pm-3pm.
